Common Faults

  • Back arching when bringing knees to
    waist, resulting in elevated hips
  • Hands too far in front of the shoulders
  • Not alternating legs
  • Feet touching the floor at mid-point of movement under the body when knees are
    raised

Corrections

  • Demonstrate the correct movement
  • Give verbal coaching cues of the correct technique
    • Remain in press up position
    • Keep foot raised off floor during knee raise
    • Keep back straight
    • Lower hips
  • If child is fatigued, resulting in poor technique, allow the child to rest or slow down until the movement can be executed with correct technique
