Common Faults

  • Rounded back
  • Not standing fully up at the top
  • Knees buckling in
  • Hands too wide or too narrow
  • Completing movement on toes
  • Moving pipe away from body

Corrections

  • Demonstrate the correct movement
  • Give verbal coaching cues of the correct technique
    • Squeeze shoulder blades together
    • Heels on floor
    • Pipe close to body
    • Bend knees, then push hips forward
    • Stand up at the top
  • If child is fatigued, resulting in poor technique, allow the child to rest or slow down until the movement can be executed with correct technique
